A SHORT GAME STORY: ANDERSON UNIVERSITY VS NORTH GREENVILLE

This was an assignment that I had in my sports broadcasting class. I had 30 minutes to complete it. This is a fictional game story about a football game between Anderson University and North Greenville.

ANDERSON (AP) - The Anderson University Trojans secured a 28-25 win over the North Greenville University Trailblazers with a 20-yard touchdown pass this Saturday at Spero Financial Field at Melvin and Dollie Younts Stadium.

Trojan wide receiver Mike Johnson was able to catch the 20-yard touchdown pass thrown by quarterback John Smith with two minutes left in the game after their defense forced two turnovers in the second half. The North Greenville Trailblazers missed their opportunity to tie the game in the final seconds by missing a 35-yard field goal.

Smith threw three touchdown passes and averaged a total of 250 passing yards in this matchup against the Trailblazers. Smith said that the reason they were able to turn the game around in the second half to secure a Trojan victory was because everyone worked as a team and played their part.

Running back Alex Brown was the shining star of the Trailblazers who averaged 150 rushing yards and secured two touchdowns in the first half with his speed making it difficult for the Trojans to stop.

“I’m incredibly proud of our team’s resilience. They fought hard until the very end and never gave up,” said the Trojan’s head coach when asked about his reaction on how their team was able to turn the game around in the second half.

The Trojans are now 1-0 this season and will take on the Carson-Newman University Eagles in a South Atlantic Conference matchup this coming Saturday.

The Trailblazers will host The Citadel in a non-conference game on Sept. 13.
