Joey A. Eskridge: Recipient of the Mayor’s Community Service Medal
Joey A. Eskridge, esteemed Director of Tennis at Anderson University, has been named the recipient of the Mayor’s Community Service Medal to recognize his contributions to the Anderson Community and the world of collegiate sports. Eskridge is a passionately dedicated coach who has dedicated 17 years to shaping the Trojan tennis program. Under his leadership, the Trojans have secured two conference championships and four NCAA tournament appearances.
A native of Anderson, South Carolina, Eskridge began his career in tennis at T.L. Hanna High School, winning two state championships before continuing his education and tennis career at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Physical Education. Before taking on the position of Director of Tennis, Eskridge worked with both junior and professional tennis players across the entire coast of South Carolina. He has earned many prestigious awards like the John Newcomb Pro of the Year in 2008 and the USTA South Carolina’s Coach of the Year in 2013.
Eskridge’s commitment to fostering athletic achievement and encouraging local community service has earned him admiration from the Anderson community. Through his efforts, Eskridge has proven to be a respected leader for his contributions to both Trojan athletics and the Anderson community.
